Kick the Stigma Campaign
We’re so excited to announce our partnership with Raisa’s Barbers on the Kick the Stigma campaign. Find our joint press release on the initiative below.
Raisa’s Barbers will officially launch their ‘Kick the Stigma’ Mental Health Awareness campaign, in partnership with Brent, Wandsworth & Westminster Mind (BWW Mind) on Thursday 13th June.
To kick off the campaign, we are bringing businesses together in a fun 5-a-side football tournament to raise funds for BWW Mind – who support over 19,000 people per year.
We’re calling for all businesses to get involved, field a team on the day and be part of the ‘Kick the Stigma’ campaign intended to tackle the stigmas and taboos around Mental Health.
Poor Mental Health does not discriminate. With 34% of 18–24-year-olds reporting mental health related issues in the UK today, if the next generation is to prosper our society needs to come together to change the way we address Mental Health.
Mental Health is close to the hearts of the team at Raisa’s, as many customers confide in their barbers, often sharing personal stories and struggles. And, whilst the team feel privileged to be part of the wider support network, they want to do more than just listen…. they want to ‘Kick the Stigma’.
Adam from Raisa’s said “We believe progressive businesses today are looking to create inclusive, psychologically safe environments to enable people to open up and be their full authentic selves. Together we can ‘kick’ the stigma around Mental Health. We can change the narrative. To create sustainable change, it takes all of us to play a part in ensuring everyone is not only physically, but mentally healthy.”
Who can forget the moment when Saka, Sancho and Rashford missed their penalties for England, and we saw them crucified by a vocal minority on social media. The incident ignited a national conversation about Mental Health, and football was the catalyst, transcending from the world of sport into mainstream society.
With the upcoming EURO 2024 tournament, it feels timely to reiterate the importance of Mental Health. Whether at home or at work, with a partner or a colleague – we can all look out for and look after each other.
“We are thrilled that Raisa’s chose us to support through their event, they are truly inspiring. And, whilst we have made significant inroads in reducing the stigma around Mental Health, there is still a long way to go and creative ideas like this are exactly what we need to reach the wider community. We will be at the event to talk to people and share more about the services that we provide. We look forward to seeing a wide variety of people there” said Charlotte, Director of Business Development & Innovation at BWW Mind.
The event takes place during the daytime on Thursday 13th June in Westminster.
